Salesforce e-signature integration

The Legalesign Salesforce integration adds electronic signature capability directly to your Salesforce workflow. Generate and send documents for signing from any standard or custom Salesforce object — Accounts, Contacts, Opportunities, Orders, Contracts, and more — and track signing status in real time via a related list. Signed PDFs are retrieved directly into Salesforce, and signer-captured data is automatically written back to the mapped object fields.

The integration uses Legalesign templates mapped to Salesforce fields, so merge data flows automatically and signers only need to fill in what isn't already known. Webhooks keep document status in sync as signers act, and the full audit trail is available in your Legalesign account.

Prerequisites​

  • A Legalesign account with API access. Start a free trial if you don't have one.
  • Salesforce administrator access to install packages and configure page layouts.
  • An HMAC secret from Legalesign — email support@legalesign.com to request one before you begin.

How it works​

Permission levels — the app has two permission sets. Legalesign Admin Access is for Salesforce administrators who configure the connection. Legalesign Access is for all other users who need to view and manage documents.

Template mapping — each Legalesign template is mapped to a Salesforce object. When a document is generated, Salesforce field values are merged in automatically. Data captured by signers is written back to the mapped fields once you retrieve it.

Webhooks — a Salesforce Site is created during setup to receive real-time webhook events from Legalesign. This is what keeps document status (Awaiting Signature, Signed, Rejected, etc.) up to date in Salesforce without manual refreshing.

Signed PDF retrieval — once a document is signed, you trigger retrieval by updating the document status to Get Signed Document. The PDF appears in the Files section of the related record.
